Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Marshall. Guest Fighter: In Urban Reign, a Beat 'em Up also by Namco. Groin Attack: What he and Forest do to each other in Forest's Tekken Tag 1 ending, and what he (inadvertently) does to Marshall in his Tekken 6 ending. Now, he's more likely to be treated as Namco's answer to Dan Hibiki. Once, he was considered the Ken to Kazuya's Ryu and a genuine threat in any tournament he entered. However, he grows dumber and goofier in each passing game, to the point where one may wonder if he's taken one too many blows to the head after participating in seven successive Iron Fist tournaments. Flanderization: Paul was always portrayed as a bit of a goof (you only really have to look at his haircut to guess that), often having comedic arcade endings and interactions with other characters. Fingerless Gloves: In Tag 2, however, he's sporting actual boxing gloves. Because of his swelling pride, Paul boasted about his actual accomplishment, but because he technically didn't win, his bragging annoyed more than a few of his fans. Paul went undefeated throughout the Third King of Iron Fist Tournament, but he left before Ogre transformed. Fake Ultimate Hero: An interesting subversion. Eagleland: Mixing both types: He's as boisterous as he's boorish, but if you look beneath all his bravado, bad luck and jerky moments, he's still a good-hearted man deep down. 
Dumb Muscle: Getting there, due to Flanderization. Don't try to confuse me with your fancy talk, you big lizard!" Turns out, he may have gotten the attention of a few. In his 5 ending, he issues a provocation to any aliens out there listening. Cloud Cuckoo Lander: His obsession with proving himself to be the "Toughest in the Universe" leads him to the (il)logical conclusion that he must eventually go to outer space and challenge some aliens. Next up, the entire freakin' universe! In 5, he begins contemplating taking on aliens in outer space, despite lacking the means to get out there. Challenge Seeker: He's never content with merely being the toughest guy on Earth. Celebrity Resemblance: With his hair down (which can be seen for the first time in 4), Paul looks really like Triple H. Boisterous Bruiser: The older Paul gets, the more bombastic he becomes about his fighting skills and confidence. #TEKKEN 1 ENDINGS SERIES#
Badass Normal: True, near enough every fighter in this series qualifies however, Paul is currently the only canonical fighter to have defeated every significant member of the Mishima Clan, defeated two bears with his bare hands, and even went 1-on-1 with the God of Fighting and would have won if it wasn't for a last-minute transformation (which he didn't stick around long enough to witness). Fated Retribution makes this his default outfit. Badass Biker: His usual alternate costume. Awesome McCoolname: Who wouldn't want a last name as cool as Phoenix?. Long wind-up time during which the opponent may attack you? Double check, and unlike Ralf, he doesn't have Ralf's usual benefits of being Immune to Flinching during the windup or his range. Awesome, but Impractical: Paul's Burning Fist is to this game pretty much the same as Ralf's Galactica Phantom to The King of Fighters series. Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: He has an ego as large as his flattop, but does have plenty of muscle to back up his grandiose claims of intergalactic supremacy. There's even a customization option to make it larger. Seriously, he, Guile, and Benimaru should share their secrets. Anime Hair: The only time it's not seen defying gravity is in his 2P outfit from 4. 
Animal Nemesis: His rivalry with both Kuma.He wants to be in his opponent's face, constantly getting them to guess his mixup to get the most out of his kit.
With many of his moves swaying Paul back and fourth, he can greatly capitalizes on whiff punishment with extremely damaging moves such as Demolition Man or Deathfist. In-game, Paul is a hard-hitting short-ranged fighter with emphasis on 50/50 mixup.
